Tryal & Aror
Two Elvin brothers who views differ greatly. The elder of the two, Tryal, believes that the world works best when all things work together for the good of all those involved. He believes in doing as little harm as possible but will not hesitate to use is strength to defend his beliefs. He is a light hearted, good humored fellow often found pestering his brother, Aror.
Aror thinks his brother foolish. He knows that if you want something in this world you have to take it and that sometimes a little collateral damage is simply unavoidable. You have to look out for number one. Strength is not the be all end all of the world, though he cannot argue that it plays a decent part. He prefers to make his gains and triumphs through cunning and trickery. He is suspicious of most everyone, besides Tryal, which leads him to a more antisocial existence.
The brothers often quarrel over their differences but still get along despite themselves. When push comes to shove, they still have each others back. Blood runs deeper and thicker than beliefs.

Goliath
Once a pit fighter of great renown in his hometown, Goliath has now become bored with the uselessness of his life and become an adventurer in hopes of doing something more meaningful.  He finds his companions often frustrated with his reluctance to finish their opponents off quickly and his need for praise. However, in the evenings, when there is little else to do, they often find his stories and tales to be amusing.

Orchid
When she had helped the wounded swan last year in the forest she never would have dreamed it was really a beautiful woman... but now she herself was part swan/part human. She had given up her boring life as a teenager and become a protector of the forest. It wasn't long before news had reached her ears about a villainous goblin that was recklessly burning trees down and polluting the water. As was her duty as a protector of all life, she went to his lair to put an end to his terrible deeds.
It so happened, when she had defeated the being, that she came upon a creature much her own size that had been locked away in one of the cells there. It chirped and squabbled and when she told him he was free, he followed her. Though she found his appearance frightening, he was indeed a living creature. She decided to allow him to follow her so long as he did not do anything to harm the earth or its inhabitants. She began to find his undying and unquestioning loyalty to be an asset to her cause. Quylt, as he said his master had named him, soon became her silent companion.

Georg
Often finds himself the victim of stares when he goes traipsing about town with a pick axe thrown over his shoulder. Those who get to know him find he is a very down to earth companion with a bit of a twisted sense of  humor. His deep, bellowing laugh is loved by many. In a party, his ability to heal is highly valued. He is not a greedy man by any means. But his services some find come at a price. He does not desire riches or fame; aa he asks in return for companionship is his party's respect for the earth and it's inhabitants, which for some, is much to ask. But he is not deterred. He is sure that, at heart, all can do good and those that cannot, can be returned to the earth, where they will then do the good nature intended them to.

Taya
Is a gnome illusionist who now wanders the world in search of jewels and other such shiny objects. She would like to be known for her tinkering but often finds rumors of her pranks and illusions proceed her. She continues to seek a party with good humor that often adventures in places none too dangerous. But, she will go with most any party so long as they pay her well enough. What she cannot buy with jewels, she often attempts to gather with her illusions. Often she finds this leads to more trouble than success but it did get her the ornate staff she carries, so she argues it is well worth the risk.

Quylt
Was freed from under the service of his twisted master by chance when Orchid disturbed his lair. Having known no other life besides servitude, Quylt now follows and serves Orchid. He seeks only to protect his new "master". He is a quiet fellow, speaking little to others besides Orchid. He has no real goals of his own; whatever mission Orchid takes on he helps to succeed.

Trixi
Is a traveling bard that just so happened upon our group of adventurers. She finds no pleasure in combat, but often hangs out and offers her assistance hoping to be the knight in shining armor that saves the day. Failing that, she thinks it all makes for a grand story! She will often not disourage the group for forward motion, even if her gut senses danger, for epic tales are often born from mishaps of great fortune.

Griff
After several decades in the mines with his people, Griff has decided that endlessly picking away at cavern walls no longer entertains him. He instead has decided to venture forth into the world at large. He thought that perhaps becoming an adventurer it might lead him to places and riches he could never have otherwise succeeded to find at home. He has very little in the way of humor, but what he lacks in humor, he makes up for in his usefulness. He is a practical fellow but that does not keep him from carrying a skin of wine on his person at all times. Sometimes, after all, one much just enjoy the simple things of life.

Shugami
Everyone who meets her find there is just something different and strange about this human. She is a reserved servant of magic, often disappearing for lengths of time without explanation. Her abilities to heal are well talked about among her companions. The only thing perhaps more awesome is her ability to read the skies.
I was not quite sure where to put this so I will file it here. It is a series of short backgrounds stories for some of my D&D characters. Hope you enjoy them!
